| Noise reduction in
a Super-fast Aluminium Caramaran : |
In an effort to reduce the noise level on the main
passenger deck in a super fast Catamaran, a floating floor was suggested
by an acoustic consultant. However the overall dB(A) is still high
as shown in Table 3. Resonac was then decided to replace the
floating floor. The damping compound was simply poured on the main
deck floor, filling in all the welding deformations on the floor.
As the product is self-leveling, the finished floor resulted in a
smooth and even surface. The dramatic reduction in vibration level
due to Resonac is shown in Figure 6. The sound pressure level
are shown in Table 3. It is clear from this table that Resonac
performs 5 dB(A) better than the floating floor. IN addition to this,
the simple and easy application of this damping compound resulted
in huge cost savings for the boat builder. |
